The spirit of jewels
Color
is life.
The value of art lies in diversity.
These two concepts have guided my work since my beginnings as an artist. Inspired by them, I set out to search for a new kind
of jewelry, one that transcends the mere decoration
of a hand or a neck. Jewels that do not need to ornament
the body to justify their existence because they are,
on their own merits, little works of art. I deeply feel
that color is life, joy, light, and peace. Happy people
express color in the way they look at us, in their gestures,
in their relations with others. I seek to use color
on my pieces in a way that lets them emanate that liveliness,
that joie de vivre. Despite living in an era that worships
speed and mass production, I employ techniques that
may take several days but allow me to create pieces
of unlimited diversity. There cannot be two identical
jewels, as two days of our lives are never exactly the
same. The spirit of art jewelry is that each piece must
be a unique, irreproducible work. There lies its true
value.
