Gerardo Zelalia has had training in a wide variety of artistic disciplines with renowned Argentine artists. He took his first painting classes with Marta Briulo. He obtained a professor’s degree in Visual Arts from the National School of Fine Arts “Carlos Morel”, specializing in Drawing and Painting, and then perfected his drawing technique with painter and ceramicist Noemí Simino. He expanded his training at the School of Jewelry of the City of Buenos Aires. Searching for new means of expression, Gerardo obtained a degree in Artistic Techniques of Glass Fusing at the School of Glass in Berazategui (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina). He also took classes with Mabel Waisman and her team, with whom he increased his knowledge of glass fusing and learned wax modeling techniques for jewelry design. He gradually developed an interest in enamel on metal, and studied with Hugo Ostermann and Valeria Serrudo. Since 2007 he has been studying special metalsmithing techniques with Argentine artist Jorge Castañón. Gerardo has taught drawing and painting classes in his workshop, and has been a member of Mabel Waisman’s and her team teaching staff at the Ernesto de la Cárcova National School of Fine Arts, for the artistic jewelry and advanced glass-fusing classes. Gerardo’s work has participated in numerous individual and collective art exhibitions, and have been awarded several prizes and honorable mentions.
